Oak Park village officials have expanded their disposal options for medical sharps, a service where Village Hall will accept sharps from residents so they can be properly disposed of. The service is offered at the hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a trained staff member assisting with the collection and distribution of sharps. The village also offers containers for sharps for residents to take home. The Health Education Manager at the Oak Park Public Health Department, Sara Semelka, said the service has received positive feedback from the community and has been successful in helping people dispose of their sharps safely. The Village also offers a place for people to drop off their unused prescription medications, only if they are in pill form.
