Astrophotographer Greg Meyer has captured a stunning photo of the Antennae Galaxies, which have merged into a single elliptical monster of a galaxy. The image was taken using a Sky-Watcher Esprit 120 telescope with a focal length of 840mm, which Meyer found short for most galaxies. Meyer dedicated just under 21 hours of observation time to capture the image using astronomy filters over the Starfront Observatory in Rockwood, Texas. The cosmic battle between the NGC 4038 and NGC 40039 has led to an outburst of star formation, leading to the creation of "super star clusters" in the vast antenna-like arms.
