She paid for private scans and eventually received a shocking diagnosis of thyroid cancer. She experienced extreme fatigue, hair loss, heart palpitations, trouble swallowing, and lumps on her neck in June 2025. Despite repeated visits to the doctors, she continued to experience pain and fatigue. Eventually, she paid for a private scan, which revealed "very suspicious" lymph nodes and multiple nodules on her thyroid, but her biopsy came back clear. After undergoing surgery to remove her thyroid and awaiting further treatment, Laird encouraged others to keep pushing for answers about their health.
