Braiden Ward, a 27-year-old left-handed player acquired from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for Brennan Bernardino, has become a regular fixture in the Red Sox lineup. Despite facing long odds to make the Opening Day roster, Ward has been impressing with his speed and ability to steal bases at a record-breaking pace. He is currently 16 for 17 on stolen base attempts in 15 Grapefruit League games, the most in MLB by far. This makes him tied for the most by any player in a single spring since 2006 with 16 thefts. Ward is also batting.448 with a.543 on-base percentage. Despite his struggles, Ward believes his skillset are still valuable in today's game.
