The World Missions Society Church of God hosted its 1,815th Worldwide Blood Drive, partnering with the American Red Cross, in an effort to help Utah's critical blood shortage. The drive comes amid increasing global blood demand due to an aging population, global crises, and natural disasters. The Church's representative for the Salt Lake City representative, Tad Evans, said that 61 donations could potentially save 200 lives. This year's event is promoting Power Red donations, which allow donors to safely donate consecrated red blood cells during a single donation while returning their plasma and platelets.
