State attorney general asks public input on deal to merge Allina Health with California company

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison is seeking public input on a proposed merger between Allina Health and Sutter Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the country. The deal would allow Allina to become Sutter’s Upper Midwest Division while keeping its name, brand and regional headquarters. Allina CEO Lisa Shannon would remain in her role. The merger was announced March 17 and will undergo thorough review under state health care transaction law, charities law, and antitrust law.
