Artists Equity, the artist-led indie studio founded by Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, and Gerry Cardinale, has announced a new Writers' Room program for its development of original screenplays. The program, formalized after a successful pilot period, invites writers to pitch film ideas across a range of genres, with rooms launched around selected ideas. The current participants include Jason Stone, Gabe Sherman, E.T. Feigenbaum, Flint Wainness, Jono Matt, and Sam Mazany. Scripts that move forward are packaged with talent and financing by Artists Equity. The company's President of Film & Television, Amy Baer, said the program offers writers a better script development dynamic without endless notes and shifting goalposts.
