Hundreds Of Detroit City Workers Could Soon See Pay Raises

Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield has proposed a plan to increase city workers' wages to a minimum of $21.45 per hour, or $44,500 per year. The proposal must be approved by city council and could occur in early April. Sheffield has ordered a report by HR Director Denise Starr to identify every full-time position currently being paid less than $19.50 per hour. The necessary salary increases will be reflected in every eligible city employee's paycheck starting in July.
