Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn) has urged world progressives to learn from the defeat of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in Hungary as a blueprint for rebuilding democracy. Speaking at the inaugural Global Progressive Mobilization conference in Barcelona, Murphy described the U.S. as "the most significant threat" to democratic institutions since the Civil War. He also called for corporate power to be broken up and for global efforts to combat the cult of corruption, which he argued is harming working-class people.
