Supreme Court saves Rep. Nicole Malliotakis’ Staten Island district

The US Supreme Court has ruled that Rep. Nicole Malliotakis' Staten Island-based district does not need to be redrawn for the 2026 midterm congressional elections. The court's decision overturns a state court judge's decision to redraw the lines of the GOP-friendly district, which he claimed unfairly diluted the power of Black and Latino voters. This victory is significant for Republicans in the redistricting battle, which could determine control of the closely divided House of Representatives. The ruling also sets up a potential Democratic primary fight between Rep. Dan Goldman and Brad Lander in the neighboring NY-10 district.
