Kansas City voters pass 1% earnings tax

The Kansas City voters have voted to renew the one-per-hour earnings tax, one of the city's main revenue sources since 1963, which generates nearly $374 million annually. The vote passed with over 75% voting "yes" and just under 25% voting not renew. The tax helps fund first responders, trash collection, street repair and snow removal among other city services.
