Richard Gadd, the creator of "Baby Reindeer," has created another HBO series, "Half Man," about a toxic relationship between two pseudo stepbrothers. The six-episode series is described as "homoerotic Normal People" with more violence. Despite its difficulty at times, the show's performances are considered compelling and it should win the Emmys. The show is set in Gadd's native Scotland and explores male sexuality, violence, anger, aggression, repression, shame, bravado, and trauma. The time jump between teen Niall and their adult versions is handled clumsily, but both actors are talented enough to play these characters. Despite this, critics predict that the show will not live up to expectations.
