Lower Manhattan gets a new arts center focused on Central and Eastern Europe

The Pilecki Institute has opened its New York headquarters, 92 Greenwich Street, with its debut exhibition, "Modern Freedom," featuring contemporary artists from across Central and Eastern Europe. The institute, named after Polish resistance fighter Witold Pileckow, aims to be a research center and public-facing arts hub focused on the region's past. The exhibition will include works from Poland, Ukraine, the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia. Alongside exhibitions, the Institute will host research programs, residencies and public discussions.
