The claim that former U.S. Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George was detained on suspicion of treason was made by a self-proclaimed parody website, @RealRawNews.com. The Pentagon confirmed on April 2, 2026 that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had relieved George of his duties and asked him to retire, but the reasons for this were not immediately disclosed. The website acknowledges on its about page that the stories are not real.
