The Southern California News Group has compiled a questionnaire for the 2026 primary election candidates in Los Angeles. The top issues facing CD 5 include the housing crisis, public safety, and safe and reliable transportation. Candidates also highlighted their commitment to enforce laws on the books and have consequences for anti-social behavior, while providing social services to those who need them. They suggested that new state laws should be introduced to address housing availability and affordability, and stopping blocking new affordable housing development. They also proposed full, aggressive performance audits of city departments, including the LAPD, to ensure tax dollars are used wisely and efficiently.
