Long Beach, St. Anthony’s set up for heated hockey championship finale

The Long Island high school hockey championship is set to end with a thrilling finale between the Friars of St. Anthony's and the Marines of Long Beach. The final match will be held at 4 p.m. at the Northwell Health Ice Center. Long Beach senior captain and center Michael Calvi reflected on his team's success, including a 13-game win streak and a dramatic double-overtime victory over rival Bellmore-Merrick. St.Anthony's won the Suffolk County title after a series that ended in a goal scored twice in the final game. Calvi also reflected on the legacy of former player Gerrin Hagen, who was killed by a car at 18 while skateboarding in 2023.
