Utah has taken the lead in the NCAA ski championships after second-place finishes from Erica Lavén and Mons Melbye. Lavén finished the 7.5K classic with a time of 25:11.0, only trailing only Rosie Fordham from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. On the men's side, Melbye finished second with a finish of 18:31.0. Utah edged out Colorado to take first place in the team event. The competition resumes Friday morning at the Spencer F. .
