PC makers are not ready for the MacBook Neo

The MacBook Neo, a $600 laptop from Apple, has been introduced as a significant competitor in the budget laptop market. Asus CFO Nick Wu stated that the Neo's aggressive entry-level pricing and 8GB of RAM were a surprise to the market. However, other PC manufacturers, like Dell, HP, Acer, and Samsung, have been caught unprepared. The MacBook Neo's performance is clear, with its A18 Pro chip outperforming all other Windows laptops in single-core benchmarks. However PC manufacturers may struggle to match the specs, as Apple's vertically integrated supply chain can continue to offer computers cheaper. The article suggests that while PC manufacturers are already working on a new generation of affordable Windows laptops, companies like Gigabyte, which are not currently involved in the same segment as the Neo are expected to be.
