State Attorney upgrades charges for ex-Brevard deputy in roommate's shooting death

Andrew Jacob Lawson, a former Brevard County Sheriff's deputy, is facing second-degree murder charges for the accidental shooting death of his roommate, Austin Walsh, in 2022. The charges have been upgraded to second degree murder in relation to Walsh's death. Lawson, who was also a deputy, allegedly used a gun he thought was not loaded when he pulled it out of a recently purchased handgun and had been playing an online video game "CALL OF DUTY" with Walsh. If convicted, Lawson could face up to 15 years in jail if convicted of a manSLAUGHTER in Florida. The state attorney's office has also upgraded charges for mental health rehabilitation.
