Country music legend Dwight Yoakam made his national debut on the Hot Country Songs list in 1986, with "Honky Tonk Man." The song was written by the late Johnny Horton, who rose to No. 9 with his version of the song 30 years ago and released in 1962, rising to 11th with no further charting. Yakakam was instrumental in the New Traditionalists, combining classic country influences with modern sound quality.
