Long Covid Is Down, but Not Out, Study Finds

Scientists from Yale University and others have found that long covid, a condition that caused by a dysfunctional immune response to the earliest covid infection or the persistent presence of the coronavirus, continues to affect many Americans. The researchers, who examined nationally representative survey data, estimated that about one in 12 U.S. adults had reported ever having long covids by 2024, a slight majority of whom have since recovered. They also found that while the risk of developing long Covid is on the decline, many people are still suffering with no reliable treatment available. However, they cautioned that self-reported rates of long covidd can still be used as a barometer for its impact on the population.
