High school seniors across New Jersey are known as 'Assassins', a popular game that involves students armed with water pistols or Nerf guns. Police and school administrators have warned that the game could lead to tragedy when students see a masked figure with what appears to be a gun outside their homes. The game, also known as ‘Killer’ or ‘Senior Assassin’ in some communities, has led to serious injuries and deaths. In Essex County, West Orange High School officials have warned families not to endorse or condone the student-led game, and West Orange students are prohibited from playing the game on school campuses. Meanwhile, the Morris County Police warned that while these activities can be easily misinterpreted by the public, they may cause unnecessary alarm, prompt emergency responses, or lead to unintended consequences involving law enforcement.
