An elderly woman was found dead after a welfare check in Alexander County, North Carolina, revealed a fire at her home. The cause of the fire is not yet known. The sheriff's office does not believe any signs of foul play have been found. The incident occurred at a home along Royal Russell Road near Paul Payne Store Road.
