Cesar Chavez’s closest ally reveals he raped her and got her pregnant twice: ‘My silence ends here’

Dolores Huerta, the United Farm Workers co-founder and close ally of civil rights icon Cesar Chavez, has accused him of sexually abusing her and several other women throughout his career. She described a night in 1966 when Chavez drove her to a secluded field and raped her inside the vehicle, and another six years later when he pressured her to have sex with him during a work trip. This is the first time publicly she has spoken out about these allegations. HuERTa also said Chavez abused her emotionally during a board meeting. The New York Times investigation also revealed that Chavez also sexually abused then-girls Ana Murguia and Debra Rojas in the ’70s.
