HP has unveiled its HP IQ app, a chatbot app for its first time, designed to speed up work tasks within its commercial laptops. Unlike its predecessor, the Humane Ai Pin, which was designed to revolutionise the use of smartphone screens, is now being developed as an Enterprise Laptop Chatbot. The chatbot is accessible from the desktop and does not require an internet connection to run, unlike other chatbots that use cloud-based models that can order groceries or call an Uber while simultaneously accessing sensitive information. The company's CEO, Imran Chaudhri, now HP’s senior VP in charge of HP IQ, has promised that the rest of the data is being processed on these laptops and not on the cloud. However, the limitations of the small-scale 20 billion parameter model running on-device will require more refined AI and more powerful processors. The HP IQ feature was designed with offices and full IT staff in mind, but the team is still working to create a toggle feature that could grant the AI full access to the internet.
