US lawmakers say they'll visit Taiwan before Trump's summit with China's Xi

A bipartisan group of four senators is set to visit Taiwan, Japan and South Korea in an effort to bolster U.S. alliances against China's dominance in Asia. The trip, announced by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire and Sens. John Curtis, R-Utah, Thom Tillis, and Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., will be joined by the lawmakers. This comes before President Donald Trump's trip to Beijing in May for a summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Recent moves by Trump, such as discussing potential weapons sales to Taiwan with Xi, have raised questions about the future direction of U.K.
