New Haven Mayor Michael Elicker has nominated David Zannelli as the next chief of police for New Haven, following the resignation of former police chief Karl Jacobson who admitted to stealing from the department's confidential informant fund. The appointment is pending confirmation by the New Haven Board of Alders. Jacobson was arrested in February and charged with two counts of first-degree larceny by defrauding a public community.
