Idris Robinson, an assistant professor of philosophy at Texas State University, has sued the school for violating his free speech and retaliating against him. The lawsuit alleges that Robinson was abruptly placed on administrative leave in 2025 after receiving complaints and allegations related to a talk he gave on the Israel-Palestine conflict. He is asking a federal court to prevent the school from terminating his contract, which is set to end in May. The university cannot comment on pending litigation. Robinson's talk covered Hamas's attack on Israel in October 2023 and Israel's military aggression in Gaza. The three people filming Robinson’s talk were Jewish and sustained minor injuries, but he faced an onslaught of online harassment and calls for his dismissal.
