The Florida Supreme Court has rejected the state's request to proceed with the execution of former Mascotte police officer James Duckett. This decision comes after the court granted a rare stay of execution for Duckett while awaiting new DNA test results. The tests were inconclusive, leading to a motion for the state to lift the stay. Six out of seven Florida justices opposed the move.
