Jennifer Moya, a crisis response clinician with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Behavioral Health Unit, and paramedic Joe Drevenak, with the sheriff's team responded to an elderly man living in his truck in a South Valley neighborhood on Monday. The team also conducted a wellness check on an elderly tenant at the landlord's request in Albuquerque. These calls had already been flagged for involving mental health issues. Moya is a clinical therapist for the Behavioral Health unit, a response team composed of caseworkers, therapists, paramedics, and detectives who respond to 911 calls involving such mental health crises. The unit is the only law enforcement unit approved in New Mexico to administer antipsych drugs in the field.
