The City of Miami Police has released bodycam footage showing a police-involved shooting near Bayfront Park in 2025. The incident occurred while an officer was directing traffic at a music festival near Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast Second Street in Miami. The officer tried to flag a black BMW to stop when the driver hit the gas and continued driving, but the car continued to drive forward. The driver, Menelek Emmanuel Clarke, was shot in the leg, shoulder, and side, but managed to escape and surrender to the police. Clarke is facing charges of reckless driving, resisting arrest, and aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer. The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office concluded its investigation into the officer's actions and stated that the officer was legally justified in the use of deadly force.
