The Hollywood industry is witnessing a shift in power, with Paramount CEO David Ellison and Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav set to merge. The merger will create a trio of global entertainment giants, along with Netflix and Disney, while tech giants Amazon, YouTube and Meta are encroaching on territory that was once the realm of legacy media. Paramount shed 10 percent of its workforce after the Skydance takeover, and with $6 billion in synergies targeted after it eats Warners, significant job cuts are expected for both companies as they merge. Meanwhile, the NFL is set to open discussions about renegotiating its $10 billion per year rights deals with NBCUniversal, Fox, Disney, and Amazon. The Writers Guild will join SAG-AFTRA in negotiating a new contract with the studios, at a time when guild health plans are at a critical point.
