The Webb County Sheriff’s Office has distributed 1,000 stuffed animals to law enforcement and first responders in an effort to comfort children during traumatic situations and natural disasters. The animals were distributed as part of the 12th annual Share-a-Bear drive. The stuffed animals can calm a child's body and mind during emergency situations, according to licensed chemical dependency counselor Marie Lambert Alcayde. In fiscal year 2025, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services served 5,700 children in Webb County, a decrease from the previous year's total of 6,100.
