The New Jersey Devils defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 in a shootout, keeping their five-game losing streak alive. The Devils, who are currently on a three-game winning streak, erased three Toronto leads before winning in the shootout. Arseny Gritsyuk and Nico Hischier scored two goals for the Devils, while Timo Meier and Connor Brown scored the other goals. Jacob Markstrom was the hero for the team, saving 24 of 27 shots in regulation and overtime, and marking his fourth-highest save total over his nine NHL seasons. The game was also attended by the 2026 gold medal winning women’s Team USA.
