Safe Children Coalition (SCC) celebrated futures reimagined through its programs at the Giving Breakfast, with inspirational stories shared about clients whose lives were transformed through SCC programs. Former foster child Aiyana, who benefited from the PESS (Post-secondary Educational Services & Support) program, earned her Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Management from FAMU and Master's degree from FSU in Public Administration, and will soon be headed to law school. Other inspirational stories included how Alana was removed from an abusive home and began her engagement with SCC in the CAPTA (Children and Parents Together Always) program. The organization's 2025 impact numbers were updated with highlights of programs such as foster care, adoption, Schoolhouse Link (for homeless students), and prevention and diversion. SCC President and CEO Brena Slater and Board Chair Tony Gamelin highlighted that in 2025, the organization served over 10,000 children across all programs in Sarasota, Manatee and DeSoto counties. The event also highlighted the success of the Youth Shelter Campaign, which has exceeded its goal of $9.9 million to build a new shelter for homeless and vulnerable children in Florida’s Circuit 12.
