The rise in river levels in Illinois is causing concern for communities across the state, with some expected to reach a major flood stage overnight into Monday. The Des Plaines River could reach major flood status and peak Monday, according to Lake County officials. Despite dry conditions Sunday night, temperatures are expected to drop into the 20s in some areas. The Lake County Stormwater Management Commission warns that the Des Plainese River could rise before it crests. The rising waters have caused homes and roads to be closed and dangerous in parts of the north suburbs of Lincolnshire. With the Fox River expected to exceed historic flood levels, Nunda Township leaders are seeking volunteers to help make sandbags.
