A Flood Watch is in effect for most of Southeast Michigan through 2 p.m. Wednesday, prompting a 4Warn Weather Alert and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the Saginaw area. The weather system responsible for Tuesday's record-breaking heat is now moving through Michigan, with heavy rain and thunderstorms expected to move across the region. The biggest concern is localized flooding, particularly in areas with low-lying neighborhoods, underpasses, and roads with poor drainage. Residents are urged to check sump pumps, clear nearby drains, and monitor lower levels of their homes for water intrusion during prolonged rainfall. Temperatures are expected to gradually improve later Wednesday as a cold front moves through the region, bringing cooler air back into Southeast Michigan. Meanwhile, parts of the Thumb and Mid-Michigan are dealing with freezing rain and icy conditions, while Northern Michigan is under Ice Storm Warnings. The forecast suggests cooler but quieter weather for St. Patrick's Day next Tuesday, with temperatures expected to fall behind the front and winds shifting out of the west, bringing temperatures back to the south.
