We asked readers why drivers back into parking spaces, with some arguing that it is time-consuming and inconsiderate of other drivers. Most prefer to back in due to the safety of large SUVs parked by them and their convenience. However, some drivers cite a study which found that backing out of a parking space is more dangerous than pulling forward. Some drivers were taught to back into their spaces during a driver's education class in the 1970s and later by a Georgia state trooper during a training course.
