Top German court backs BMW, Mercedes in ruling on new petrol vehicles

The German Federal Court of Justice (BGH) has dismissed climate lawsuits against BMW and Mercedes-Benz over the sale of new combustion engine vehicles beyond 2030. The cases were brought by Environmental Action Germany (DUH), a pressure group seeking a court order to prohibit the companies from selling new vehicles with climate-damaging internal combustion engines. The court's ruling upholds lower court rulings in Munich and Stuttgart.
