Electric kayaks, similar to e-bikes, are becoming more accessible to the water, making marine excursions more accessible. Old Town has released a range of new kayaks that incorporate electric and pedal-assist propulsion, including models that blur the line between traditional paddling and motorized boating. The company's Sportsman PDL 120 PRO and ePDL+ 120 PRO are aimed at anglers, while the Malibu ePDl+ 120 and Sonata 106 MK are also expanding. These kayaks offer hands-free propulsion, allowing users to steer with their feet while the motor or pedals handle propulsion, freeing up their hands entirely. However, there are still growing pains in this category due to issues such as pricing, battery safety, and regulation of these craft.
