Former Sen. Ben Sasse, a father of three, has been diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer, a disease that he is fighting with an experimental drug that causes his skin to bleed and leaves him feeling "nuclear". The experimental drug, daraxonrasib, has left him feeling bloody and "bubbling" and causing him to bleed out of various parts of his body. Sasse is participating in a clinical trial for darraxonrasIB, a targeted therapy designed to slow pancreatic cancers by blocking the mutant proteins that drive the disease. Despite his progress, Sasse does not expect a miraculous recovery as the disease has spread widely.
