Man charged after attempted machete attack in downtown Nashville

A 35-year-old man is accused of attempting to attack multiple people with a machete in downtown Nashville. Police were called to the John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge over the Cumberland River around 6:30 p.m. As they arrived, victims reported seeing a man with a weapon on his bicycle. Stidmon was also armed with a hatchet and an electronic shock device was used to subdue him. He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault against an officer.
