His performance surpassed the 81 points scored by Kobe Bryant for the Los Angeles Lakers in 2006, and is second only to Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point haul against the New York Knicks in 1962. Adebayeo praised his performance, calling it a highpoint of his career and a surreal moment being in the company of his idol, Bryant. Miami coach Erik Spoelstra called it "an absolutely surreal night."
