Emirates Villages Running Races earn UN Tourism recognition for social impact in sports tourism

The Emirates Villages Running Races, organised by the Emirates Council for Balanced Development, have been recognised by UN Tourism in the category of Social Impact in Sports Tourism. The recognition was given during an official ceremony in Madrid, where Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais, Secretary-General of UN Tourism, highlighted the council's role in developing initiatives that strengthen the link between sports, community development, and sustainable tourism. The races, held from October to December 2025, featured seven races across seven villages in seven emirates, with over 5,000 participants.
