Royals honor Perez’s home run record with celebratory video, commemorative logo

Royals legend Salvador Perez was honored with his 318th career home run at Kauffman Stadium, his first home game at home since July 25. The Royals painted ‘318′ on the field behind home plate with Perez's silhouette next to it, and played a celebratory video before the game’s first pitch. Perez was joined by his family and Hall-of-Fame third baseman George Brett for the pregame ceremony. Brett, who previously held the franchise record, suggested that a lot of his records could fall if superstar shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. stays with the Royals for 15-plus years.
