Phoenix mountain rescues climb as early heat wave arrives

The number of mountain rescues in Phoenix has increased due to an earlier-than-usual heat wave moving through the Valley. The department has recorded eight rescues through March 11, with concerns that the number could exceed the previous year's total due to hotter temperatures forecast for the coming week. Dr. Shad Marvasti, executive director of the Whole Health Institute at HonorHealth, has warned of public health concerns about the heat, particularly due to the large number of visitors to the area for spring training.
