BRK Capital raises $14.5M (so far) to invest in Black founders

Canada's BRK Capital has raised $20 million CAD (around $14.5 million USD) to invest in high-growth technology companies led by founders from the Black community. The firm is primarily focusing on Canada, with the average check size between $250,000 and $1.5m. The fund's managing partner, Lise Birikundavyi, believes that investors in Canada still see "inclusive investment" as beneficial for the ecosystem and potentially lucrative business opportunities. The Fund II, launched in 2021 and is currently investing in 25 companies.
