He declined to comment on the matter, attributing his decision to "timing" and stating that he has not yet made a decision about running again. Despite previous unsuccessful bids, DeSantantant has since reconciled with President Donald Trump and has stated that he will demonstrate that conservatism works regardless of the circumstances. He finished second in the Iowa caucuses with 21.2% of the vote and beat former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who came in third with 19.1%.
