Waymo is seeking state approval to operate driverless cars in Baltimore. The company is focusing on enhancing safety and ensuring that its vehicles are involved in 90% fewer serious injuries and accidents than human ones. The vehicle uses a laser scanner, two types of radar and 29 sensors for navigation, and can also read traffic signs and stop at red lights. However, the Teamsters Union has opposed this, believing it will eliminate jobs. The state legislature has strong support and the public is also in favor of the concept.
