Industry group representing Apple voices concern to Pentagon over Anthropic ban

The Information Technology Industry Council, whose members include Apple, has expressed concern over Anthropic's designation as a "supply chain risk. This designation, which had never been applied to a domestic company before, prevents any company from conducting commercial activities with Anthropic. The decision was made following discussions over a $200 million contract that included two clauses that Anthropic refused to accept, including the use of its technology for domestic surveillance and autonomous weapons. The council's CEO, Jason Oxman, argued that designations such as the Supply-Chain Risk to National Security are typically reserved for entities designated as foreign adversaries. The Department of Defense responded by stating it will respond directly to the authors.
